Day after Christmas. The house is quieter. The wrapping paper is gone. The kids are still buzzing.
I was thinking about gifts this morning. The triplets and Camila aren’t at the age yet where they’re buying each other presents. That comes later. But if we do our job right, there’s a day coming when they’ll actually enjoy spending their own money to get their brother or sister something that matters. Not because they have to. Because they want to.
That’s part of what I love about building a business and creating wealth. When you do it right, it’s not just about you. You raise people up around you who can earn more, grow more, and experience the satisfaction of doing really cool shit for other people.
I’ve talked before about buying my dad a Shelby Cobra. Still one of the most badass experiences of my life. Not just for giving the car itself, but for the happiness I knew it produced in my dad.
Money gets a bad rap. Sure, there’s probably someone out there who only cares about money. I don’t know that guy. For me, money creates options. It creates margin. It creates generosity. And as I’ve grown my businesses, one of the best parts has been watching other people earn more and then use that money to help their families, do something cool for their parents, or create something memorable for someone they care about.
Don’t let anyone make you feel guilty about that. If money is a tool and you use it well, it can be a damn good one.
